Holiday Market for Immune-Compromised Visitor?

Holiday Market for Immune-Compromised Visitor?
Other 5 answers • Marta BMarta B
My friend is in the end stages of cancer and I'd love to take her to a Calgary Christmas market, but I'm worried about crowds and germs. We're thinking of visiting one that opens 30 minutes early for immune-compromised shoppers and their friends.

Just go early and you'll likely find it pretty quiet anyway.

I think wearing a K95 mask and practicing good hand hygiene would be sufficient precautions. Even if the market opens 30 minutes early, it's still possible for someone to get sick if one of the vendors is ill, especially if they're handling food or other items that could be contaminated.

A N95 mask would certainly help reduce the risk of transmission, but I'm worried about the crowds at holiday markets. My friend uses a walker, and I'd hate for her to feel overwhelmed by the large number of people. It's a lot to take in, especially during the holiday season.

As a vendor, you'll want to arrive on time to set up before the crowds arrive. Vendors typically have a short setup time, and it's best to be ready for customers when the market officially opens to avoid any confusion or inconvenience.

Millarville is a more laid-back outdoor market with some indoor areas, which might be a better fit for us. Heritage Park has a larger Christmas event with a more spread-out layout, but it's a bit farther away from home.
