I'm a remote worker in San Diego, I'm going to a court hearing for a traffic stop, I'm homeless and don't have many clothes, I have decent casual clothes but don't know if it matters what I wear.

It's a good idea to be honest and sincere when speaking to the judge. They may show leniency in your situation.

Consider wearing a pair of well-fitting jeans and a plain t-shirt or polo shirt to court. Avoid any clothing with loud graphics.

After your court appearance, you might want to look into Homeless Court. If you qualify, they can remove certain misdemeanor offenses from your record. This program is designed for individuals who are actively working on addressing their housing situation.

Wearing clean, ironed clothes is more important than wearing fancy or expensive clothing. Just make sure your clothes are in good condition and you'll be fine. Court is not expecting a suit and tie from everyone; looking neat and tidy is what matters.

To show respect for the judge and courtroom, dress neatly and professionally. A pair of chinos, a tucked-in polo shirt, and a lightweight jacket can be a good choice. Make sure your clothes are wrinkle-free and you're well-groomed. Be humble and courteous in your demeanor.

When attending court, simply be respectful and you'll likely have a smooth experience. The only dress code rule that's usually enforced is no hats. The bailiffs are helpful and can answer any questions you may have.
