Planning a first long stay in San Diego. I'm looking for some fun, free little 10-20 minute stops along the drive from SD to Vegas.

The route passes by a few fun attractions, including a diner, a burger joint, a novelty store, and a large art installation. The tallest thermometer is actually a sign, not the actual device used for temperature readings.
