The skies over Santurce and neighboring towns are expected to be anything but calm this weekend, as the Servicio Nacional de Meteorología (SNM) has issued a special weather statement for Saturday, September 26, 2026. According to meteorologist Gabriel Lojero, the area should brace for strong thunderstorms, with the potential for heavy rainfall, gusty winds of over 50 miles per hour, and even hail.

The storms, which are currently affecting areas such as Corozal, Naranjito, Vega Alta, Morovis, Orocovis, Ciales, Toa Alta, Toa Baja, Vega Baja, Florida, Barranquitas, and Comerio, pose significant risks. Meteorology warns that lightning can strike up to 10 miles away from the storm, urging residents to seek shelter indoors or in a vehicle if possible.
