Expats and digital nomads based in Atlanta, Georgia, might not have given much thought to healthcare services in rural areas of the state. However, recent expansions by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHA) are changing that. This move is particularly relevant for residents and visitors who might need to access healthcare services outside the city limits.

According to Gabi Hart, an Italian retiree with eight years of experience living in Atlanta, these expansions are significant. 'Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is expanding its pediatric care services to rural Georgia, providing much-needed medical resources to families in underserved areas,' she explains. This initiative aims to bridge the gap in healthcare access, ensuring that children in these regions receive the care they need.

The expansion includes the establishment of new clinics and telemedicine services in rural counties. Specifically, CHA is partnering with local hospitals and clinics to offer pediatric services such as immunizations, routine check-ups, and specialized care. These services will be available in areas like Floyd, Paulding, and Meriwether counties, where previously, families had limited options for pediatric care.

‘For expats and digital nomads, this news could be particularly important if you or your children require routine check-ups or specialized care,’ notes Giulia, an Italian retiree living in Atlanta. ‘While Atlanta has excellent healthcare facilities, the rural areas often lack the same level of access. With these new services, residents can expect more convenient and comprehensive healthcare options closer to home.’

Giulia adds, 'The expansion of CHA’s services is a positive step towards ensuring that all children in Georgia have access to the healthcare they need. As an expat, I appreciate the efforts to make healthcare more accessible and reliable for everyone in the state.'
