I'm planning a first long stay in Playa del Carmen and I'm a smoker. I use heated tobacco and I realized it's illegal to take it with me. I'll be staying at the Riu Palace Riviera Maya for a week.

My boyfriend and I are pretty active people, we like hiking, exploring, eating food, the basics. We're going to Playa del Carmen for 5 days at the end of October.

I'll be in Playa Del Carmen the first few days of November and was curious if and how I could respectfully partake in whatever non-family-only celebrations there are.

I've seen scary photos of beaches covered in brown seaweed. Is it really that bad? Does it affect beach enjoyment year-round?
