What to do about reckless drivers in Panama City?

What to do about reckless drivers in Panama City?
Transportation 8 answers • Leandro Cardoso
I've been having issues with people cutting me off while driving in Panama City. I was driving in my lane on Avenida Balboa when someone tried to merge into my lane and I let them in. However, another driver, who was texting or chatting, crashed into the back of my motorcycle. Luckily, no one was hurt and my motorcycle was fine too. This happened again on my way back from work, when a taxi driver, who was also texting, crashed into me. I'm starting to think I need to be more defensive while driving. What can I do about this?

Lack of road etiquette and poorly functioning traffic flows are the main issues here. Drivers are not respecting each other's space and it's creating a chaotic environment.

Traffic flows are designed to facilitate lane changes, but they're not working as intended. It's like they're just trying to speed up the traffic flow without considering safety.

People are too busy texting or chatting to pay attention to the road. It's only a matter of time before someone gets seriously hurt.

These drivers are like monkeys chatting away, I hate how they're always on their phones.

When you leave a gap in the traffic, people assume it's an invitation to merge into your lane. It's like they're expecting you to yield to them.

For your own safety, have you considered installing a bright red light or reflector on the back of your motorcycle? It might make you more visible to these distracted drivers.

I've had this happen to me multiple times during the day, it's like they're not even paying attention.

People are so used to having a 2-meter bumper and expecting motorcycles to ride between the lanes, it's not surprising that they're not respecting your space even when you're in your own lane.
