For expats like myself, this means higher rent prices and less flexibility in lease terms. Many of these companies prioritize profit over tenant satisfaction, which can lead to issues like shorter lease durations and increased security deposits.
One of the alternatives I’ve come across is Local Rental Hub, a platform that connects tenants directly with local landlords. Another option is to check out Halifax Housing, a local nonprofit that helps individuals find affordable housing and offers support services. Both of these can offer a more personalized and community-oriented experience compared to dealing with large corporations.
