I live in a quartier in Montreal and I've noticed a lot of stray cats roaming around during my evening walks since June. I'm concerned about their welfare and wonder if everyone is abandoning their pets because they're broke.

Cats are super popular now because of social media and cute cat videos. Unfortunately, it's led to a lot of irresponsible owners who can't take care of them, and many of these cats won't survive the cold Montreal winters.

There are many stray cats in Ville-Emard, and there are TNR groups trying to help the situation. If you're concerned, you could join a group and do something about it.

I adopted a stray cat who was rescued and fostered, and now she's an indoor pet. The cat's rescue experience highlights the importance of providing a safe environment for stray animals, which is why I believe they should be kept indoors.

I was also told that on July 1, moving day, it gets really bad because people are abandoning their cats. It's so sad.

I had 4 litters of kittens born in my alley in Verdun this summer/fall. I reached out to rescues and met people who helped me TNR some of the adults and kittens. Unfortunately, some of the neighbours feeding them made it difficult to rescue them, and one of the kittens died because of it.
