I've been noticing a sudden influx of orange ladybugs in Montreal, not just in my neighborhood but also on the bus and even flying into my apartment. I'm not sure where they're coming from.

Yes, I've seen them too on the bus today.

I think it's unusual for them to be out this time of year, usually they only appear in autumn.

We've seen this phenomenon almost every autumn, but some years it's been more pronounced than others.

A recent post mentions that a certain ladybug is common in Montreal and can be orange, red, or black.

Invasive ladybeetles are not true ladybugs and give off a strong odor when trapped or killed.

Japanese beetles are also common, but they're typically brown and green. It's likely that what the OP is seeing is a different type of ladybug that can be orange, red, or black, but not green like Japanese beetles.

I've noticed the days getting colder since August, and it's not just in Montreal - I experienced it in another city too. I think it's worth investigating why this is happening.
