I'll be traveling with a senior who has had some heart troubles in the past, which are controlled via meds. We're staying at a major all-inclusive resort in the hotel zone. What happens in case of an emergency? Do hotels have a protocol and any decent hospitals nearby? Just want to be prepared.

Private medical care in Cancun can be quite expensive, so it's recommended to have a credit or debit card with a balance of $10,000 to $15,000 per person, or a comprehensive insurance plan that covers you in Mexico. Alternatively, you could opt for more affordable medical care, such as visiting the Dr. Simi clinics, which cater to lower-income patients.

Allianz offers comprehensive coverage, but it's essential to note that hospitals might still require direct payment with credit cards, even with insurance. Consider adding medical evacuation coverage for added peace of mind.
