I just moved to Halifax from Alberta a month ago and had never seen a rat in a grocery store before. I was at Sobeys Penhorn Dartmouth and saw a rat crossing aisle 2. The cashier told me they are everywhere. Should I report it somewhere?

Many local stores, particularly those in the downtown area, carry a wide selection of pest control products. Some stores may have a more extensive range than others.

Bless your heart... welcome to a port city. When I worked at a retail store on the waterfront, we were instructed to refer to them as a certain type of rodent. It's a common term you'll hear used by locals.

You've moved to a Port City, which is notorious for its rodent population. Interestingly, the province you left in is known for claiming to have eliminated rats, but here, pest control services are readily available in most areas, so you're probably overreacting just a bit. Yes, it's normal to see rodents here.
