What mosquito repellent do I need for Tulum?

I'm planning a trip to Tulum with a child in November and I'm worried about dengue, Zika or malaria. I've heard the mosquitoes are bad there. Can anyone recommend a good repellent and how to avoid getting bitten?

I live in Tulum part-time and I've found that DEET-based repellents work well. I also try to avoid going outside at sunset when the mosquitoes are worst. November is after the rainy season, so it's not as bad as it was a few years ago.

Tulum has a lot of areas where water collects and breeds mosquitoes, such as half-abandoned condos and construction sites. It's a possibility to get dengue, but unlikely to get malaria. You should take precautions.

I visit Tulum often and November is usually the worst time for mosquito bites. I wear DEET-based repellent at sunset and also have some devices that help keep them away. I'm one of those people who attract mosquitoes.

I use DEET-based repellent and in the dozens of times I've been to Tulum, I've only been bitten a few times.
