Tulum's Hotel Occupancy Stands at 85 Percent for December: Analysis
Hotel occupancy in Tulum is expected to reach 80 to 85 percent by December, a significant recovery from the 15 percent occupancy in the summer, according to Claudio Cortés Méndez, the CROC's commissioner in Tulum. This figure is based on reservations confirmed by establishments, indicating a strong recovery from the summer slump.

The summer saw hotels reporting 15 percent occupancy, the lowest in Tulum's history, prompting a warning from Quintana Roo's tourism secretary, Bernardo Cueto Riestra. The outlook for Tulum's winter season is positive, with October expected to surpass 60 percent occupancy and November and December projected at 80 to 85 percent based on confirmed reservations.
Despite the positive outlook, the summer's experience serves as a reminder of the challenges Tulum faces, including issues like sargassum removal and the impact of fuel price increases on airline frequencies. These factors have affected Tulum's tourism industry, and hoteliers have been proactive in seeking alternative revenue streams, such as offering cenotes as a substitute for beach activities.
Moved to Tulum from Argentina 4 years ago and stayed. Interested in how the town actually works.
