I've been driving on the DVP and Gardiner during rush hour and it's insane. I'm hoping the Ontario Line will help alleviate some of the congestion.

As gas prices continue to rise, many people are reevaluating their transportation options. With the growing cost of fuel, it's becoming increasingly clear that public transit is a more economical choice.

Traffic patterns are complex, but they can be likened to a gas. When people switch from the DVP/Gardiner to the Ontario Line, it frees up space for others to fill with their cars. Once congestion falls to a manageable level, such as 30 minutes from the 401 to Yonge on the DVP, others will find it attractive enough to fill the vacated space. This latent demand will be met once travel times are within a reasonable range.

The primary goal of the Ontario Line is to alleviate overcrowding on the Yonge line, not to reduce congestion on other lines.

The Ontario Line will temporarily alleviate congestion on the Bloor/Danforth line.
