Where to Find Renovation Jobs in the GTA?

Where to Find Renovation Jobs in the GTA?
Services 8 answers • nathanharper
My buddy and I have been doing residential renovations around the GTA, but we're struggling to find a steady flow of projects. We handle most of the work ourselves and subcontract specialized trades like plumbing and HVAC. We're looking for genuine advice, connections, and hopefully opportunities to work together.

Keeping your promises and maintaining a positive attitude can go a long way in building trust with others. For instance, a contractor who consistently delivers quality work and follows through on commitments is more likely to receive referrals and repeat business.

On the other hand, a poor reputation can spread quickly, especially if a contractor fails to deliver on their promises or produces subpar work.

Unfortunately, my experience with contractors has been disappointing, as they often fail to meet my expectations. This has led to frustration and additional costs to fix mistakes.

Finding reliable contractors who can deliver good work at a fair price can be challenging. When news reports highlight scams and subpar work, it's natural to feel apprehensive. However, word of mouth can be a powerful tool, as seen when a neighbor's recommendation helped my parents find a reputable roofer for their new roof.

My brother-in-law has been working with realtors for over a decade, and he relies on their referrals to find new clients. He doesn't use social media marketing; instead, he focuses on building relationships and getting recommendations from his professional network.

As a homeowner, doing an excellent job on a renovation project can lead to future opportunities. When you impress your friends, family, and network with your work, they're likely to recommend you to others. In fact, the first thing someone often does after a great renovation is show it off to their peers.

I can attest to the importance of timely completion and attention to detail. In my case, a contractor took six months to finish a condo bathroom renovation, only to discover that the tile guys had made a critical error with the pan liner. The resulting leak required four months to fix, and the contractor even used the wrong adhesive for the tiles, which I later discovered and corrected myself.

As a homeowner, I've found that the contractors who consistently follow up and return my calls are the ones who tend to get the job. It's surprising how many advertised contractors fail to respond to inquiries or return phone calls.
