Is 251 Jarvis St a safe and pleasant place to stay?

Is 251 Jarvis St a safe and pleasant place to stay?

I'm a seasonal visitor to Toronto, staying in the city for a few days next month. I've booked a studio at 251 Jarvis St and have concerns about safety and pest issues after hearing negative rumors. I'm looking for honest opinions on the building's suitability for a short-term stay.

You're in a great location with lots of grocery store options within a two-kilometer radius. Just be aware of the drug problem on the corner, and if you want to avoid the issues on the streets, head south on Jarvis to get to St Lawrence Market.

It's just a few days, you'll be fine. The area gets rougher the further east you go from your location, but west of Jarvis is okay.

It's been a while since you've explored the streets of the east end, hasn't it?

I go to Dundas and Sherbourne all the time, but a visitor like you has no reason to be in that area for a few days.

Yes, I see the same things you do on my street, and I've also seen the drug dealer and his crew hanging out at the corner of Dundas and Pembroke.

You'll be fine. I live nearby. If you want to do things, head south or west. The biggest issue is the building's poor management.

Agreed, it's a new building with a Starbucks on the ground floor and a Tim's across the street. You should be fine for a few days, and there are plenty of great places to explore nearby, like the Harbourfront, St Lawrence Market, and restaurants on Adelaide, King, and Queen Streets. Just avoid Sherbourne and Dundas, and leave the drug addicts alone, they're not interested in you.

I think you'll be fine, but it's always a good idea to check the mattress for bed bugs like you would at a hotel. The area is known for street addicts, but there are fewer of them in the colder weather. There's a large homeless shelter nearby, Seaton House, which can be rough.
