As winter looms, many expats and digital nomads in Calgary may find themselves in a pinch if their DREO space heaters are part of the recent recall. Health Canada has issued a warning about potential safety risks associated with these heaters, urging Canadians to stop using them immediately.

The recall affects DREO portable oscillating ceramic space heaters with model number DR-HSH015, which were sold in Canada from September 2025 to August 2026. Over 36,000 of these units were sold in Canada, and the company is offering free replacements. While no injuries have been reported in Canada, 16 incidents and one injury were reported in the U.S.

To register for a free replacement, you’ll need to contact DREO Innovation Inc. at (833) 820-0887, email spaceheater@realtimeresults.net, or visit their recall website. You’ll need to submit a photo of the product to verify its model and follow their instructions for the registration process. The company will then ship your new space heater.
