INDER Boosting Development in Tamarindo: Projects for Women Entrepreneurs and Senior Citizens
INDER's latest initiatives aim to support the local economy and improve the quality of life for residents in Tamarindo and surrounding areas.
After a visit to Cóbano in the Península de Nicoya, the Instituto de Desarrollo Rural (INDER) announced several projects designed to benefit women entrepreneurs, families in the fishing industry, and senior citizens. The projects include investments in machinery for women artisans, motor replacements for fishing boats, and improvements for senior care facilities.
For instance, the Inder provided high-quality industrial sewing machines, work tables, and cutting machines to 21 women entrepreneurs in Cóbano, Paquera, and Lepanto. These women, like Susana Duarte, now have the tools needed to continue their businesses and support their families. The Inder also renewed motors for 59 fishing families in Playa Blanca, Playa Palomo, and Isla Chira, with a total investment of over ₡308 million. Additionally, the Inder is financing the pre-investment studies, preliminary projects, and designs needed to build a new long-term care facility for senior citizens in Jicaral, with an estimated budget of ₡191 million.
The announcement brings hope to the community and reflects Inder's commitment to working directly with local communities to address their specific needs. These projects are particularly relevant for expats and digital nomads like myself, as they signal ongoing support for the region's development and economic growth.
