IMSS Launches Influenza Vaccination Campaign in Sayulita: What It Means for Residents
Bastien, Digital Nomad in Sayulita: As of October 12, the IMSS will begin its annual winter vaccination drive in Sayulita, a reminder that flu season is just around the corner. This year, the focus is on protecting vulnerable groups, including pregnant women and the elderly. As a digital nomad based in Sayulita since 2022, I wanted to share the details with the community.

The campaign will run until April 2, offering flu, COVID-19, and pneumonia vaccinations. The influenza vaccine is particularly important this year, with a special emphasis on pregnant women between weeks 32 and 36. Norma Angélica González, the delegational nursing coordinator, highlights that the mother-to-be will transfer antibodies to her unborn child, providing early protection. Additionally, the IMSS will provide the 20-valent pneumococcal vaccine for adults over 60 or those with chronic conditions.
This update is crucial for all residents, as Sayulita's expat community includes many young families. By staying informed about these vaccination drives, you can take proactive steps to keep your family healthy during the winter months.
