Why does Amazon's Puerto Rico shipping take 6.7 times longer than the mainland?

I've been noticing that my orders from Amazon take a lot longer to process and ship to Puerto Rico than they do to the mainland. I've downloaded my order history and compared the dates, and it seems like the processing gap is substantial. I pay the same Prime membership price as people on the mainland, and I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this issue.

Insane, I've been waiting for two weeks and my package still hasn't shipped

It's likely they're waiting for a full shipment to be collected before sending it, as it's more cost-effective to send a container full of packages rather than individual ones.

If a package says it arrived in Jacksonville, it's coming by boat and will take a significant amount of time, potentially two weeks or even a month.
