About
Tras más de una década invertida en el diseño y construcción de la Casa de la Cultura, cuyo nombre oficial es Biblioteca Pública del Estado en Santa Cruz de Tenerife, esta abrió sus puertas al público en 1977. En el año 1983 la gestión fue transferida a la Comunidad Autónoma de Canarias. Actualmente está adscrita a la Viceconsejería de Cultura y Patrimonio Cultural del Gobierno de Canarias. Se trata, pues, de un centro de titularidad estatal y de gestión autonómica.
A lo largo de sus más de 40 años de existencia, nuestra biblioteca ha pasado por varias etapas y ha ido configurando su identidad como institución al servicio de la ciudadanía.
