Workshops Galore: La Laguna's Programme Surpasses Expectations
With a record-breaking 2,700 applications submitted in just two days, the new Municipal Leisure and Free Time Workshops in La Laguna have shown a huge surge in interest. This initiative, which offers 140 workshops across 20 different subjects at 47 community centres, clearly resonates with the Tinerfeño spirit of creativity and community engagement.

As a local living in the heart of the island, I can attest to the convenience of these workshops. From yoga and traditional dance to painting and new technology sessions, there's something for everyone, and the proximity of community centres means that many can bike there in minutes. Fran Hernández, the Councillor for Citizen Participation, highlighted that the response is a strong indicator of the importance of community facilities, noting that over 3,500 applications were received last year as well.
For those looking to participate, registration remains open until 26 September, with workshops kicking off on 15 October. If you're an expat or digital nomad based in Santa Cruz, it's a great opportunity to immerse yourself in local culture and meet new friends. Just remember to act fast, as spots are filling up quickly!
