Dragging Urgency: The Fight for Castillo del Romeral's Safe Waters
As an expat running a surf school in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, I've seen firsthand the impact of infrastructure changes on our local community. The recent push by the Cabildo to expedite the dragage of Castillo del Romeral's port couldn't come at a better time for those of us relying on the sea for our livelihoods.

The current state of the port is concerning. With only about 50 centimeters of water depth, it poses significant risks to both fishing vessels and our school's small boats. This is not just a problem for the fishermen; it affects everyone who depends on the sea for their work or passion. The moción, presented by NC and PSOE, highlights the urgency of this issue, emphasizing the safety and continuity of the local fishing community.
The delay in addressing this has already resulted in a gradual loss of boats from the local fishing fleet. If the problem is not resolved soon, it could further jeopardize the survival of the local industry, impacting countless residents and visitors alike. This is a stark reminder of the importance of timely and effective governance for our community's well-being.
