As a grocer in San Miguel de Allende since 2021, I’ve seen the impact of changes on local markets. The upcoming Alfeñique Festival in Celaya, which will feature 194 vendors, is an important event for the area. This year, it runs from October 1 to November 3, offering a variety of sweets, costumes, pan de muerto, calaveritas, and other products. The festival not only brings joy and tradition but also affects local commerce.

What I, as a local business owner, care most about is the reliability of electricity and internet services during the event. Power outages can significantly disrupt business operations, and slow internet speeds can make it difficult to communicate with customers and suppliers. I’ve noticed that these issues can impact the small operations like ours, and it’s crucial to plan accordingly.

For those of us living or visiting San Miguel de Allende, it’s essential to stay updated on any potential changes in electricity and internet services. In the past, there have been instances where power outages occurred at critical times, affecting vendors and customers alike. I urge everyone to be prepared by having backup plans for essential services, such as having a reliable power source or a backup internet plan in case of unexpected disruptions.

Additionally, given the proximity of the festival to the start of the new school year, I expect a surge in traffic and a higher demand for goods. This means we need to be ready to manage increased foot traffic and ensure we have enough stock to meet the demand. It’s a delicate balance between preparing for the influx of customers and maintaining our usual operations.
