Sayulita Businesses Accepting Apple Pay?

I've heard Sayulita has a lot of small, local businesses. I'll be visiting from Canada soon and want to know if many of the local restaurants, tiendas, and bars accept Apple Pay or if I should always carry my physical credit card.

While many businesses in Sayulita accept Apple Pay, it's often recommended to use cash to avoid credit card and exchange fees. Some local shops and bars still only accept cash. If you're planning a week-long stay, consider withdrawing a substantial amount of pesos at the ATM in the Puerto Vallarta airport, around 15,000 MXN, to ensure you have enough for your expenses, as most businesses prefer cash.

Cash is king, and I mean always. You should always have some pesos on hand, especially if you're planning to explore the local markets and smaller shops.

It's a good idea to carry some local currency with you, especially when visiting small towns in Sayulita, where cash is often the preferred payment method.

When making purchases in Sayulita, keep in mind that using a card can result in an additional 3-5% charge due to bank fees. This is because Mexican businesses are not afraid to pass on these fees directly to customers, rather than risking penalties from their banks. Meanwhile, the rewards points you earn are essentially a small portion of the fees you pay, with the bank taking 3% and giving you 1% back.
