My husband and I are traveling to PV from November 13th to 23rd. We've been to Cancun before and it seems like PV is better for a local experience. We plan to relax on the beach, go on the zip line and Las Caletas beach trips, and explore town for local food.

Living with locals is definitely the more authentic experience when staying in Puerto Vallarta. However, it's essential to be cautious when booking through Airbnb, as it can be a gamble. I've had a fantastic experience at a great price, but it's not always the case.

I'm also visiting Puerto Vallarta around the same time as you, but I've opted for an all-inclusive resort. I'm looking forward to being pampered after a long work period. If you're comfortable with grocery shopping and traveling, an Airbnb might be a better fit for you. Interestingly, my resort has its own Airbnb options, such as those at Velas Vallarta, where you can choose to pay for the all-inclusive package or dine at their restaurants.
