I live in south Tampa with a 2 year old and we just had a mosquito fly into our house and bite her twice. I'm looking for information on the risk of dengue fever in Tampa and if anyone's child has ever contracted it, what the experience was like.

Oh gosh, hopefully she'll be okay. Not every mosquito is a carrier

Not every mosquito is a carrier, but it's still possible to contract dengue from one of these insects.

While it's true that only a small number of mosquitoes carry the virus, it's still disheartening to have leaders in charge who lack the qualifications and integrity to effectively manage public health.

The odds of a mosquito being a carrier are extremely low, making it a rare occurrence.

During my daughter's recent pediatrician appointment, I asked if they'd seen any dengue cases in children at their office, and they hadn't. However, my doctor mentioned that the risk is generally lower for children, with the elderly being more susceptible. It's essential to take precautions to keep kids safe, but it's also crucial not to overreact.

A nurse practitioner at a walk-in clinic near downtown Tampa recently saw a case of a girl with dengue. It's worth noting that if a diagnosis is made based on symptoms rather than a blood test, it may not be reported. Additionally, blood tests are often only conducted when patients are severely ill and visit the emergency room. Some people claim that the herb boneset may be helpful in treating dengue, but more research is needed to confirm this.
