Island of Heat: Isla Mujeres Expected to Reach 41 Degrees Celsius

Quintana Roo officials announced that Isla Mujeres is expected to reach a peak temperature of 41 degrees Celsius (105.8°F) on Sunday, October 25th, 2026, with the warmest parts of the island expected to reach up to 38°C (100.4°F), and a high of 36 to 38°C (96.8 to 96.4°F) in some areas. The warmer temperatures are expected to be accompanied by 38°C (100.4°F) in the shade, a phenomenon known as 'sensación térmica' in Spanish, causing the temperature to feel even higher.

Additionally, the area is expected to experience showers with lightning, with temperatures peaking at around 38°C and humidity reaching up to 95%. The highest temperatures are expected in Isla Mujeres, where the heat index could feel as high as 41°C. The cooler areas will experience temperatures between 32°C and 34°C, with a high of 33 to 35°C expected in Lazaro Cárdenas, and 36 to 38°C in Felipe Carrillo Puerto.

The coastal areas are expected to experience wind speeds ranging from 15 to 25 kilometers per hour, with gusts up to 50 kilometers per hour. This could cause waves up to eight feet in height in the Yucatan Channel and along the coast of Quintana Roo.

As the weather conditions are expected to continue until Monday, October 26th, Quintana Roo’s Protection Civil Office has advised the public to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous physical activity in the sun, and take extra precautions while sailing and participating in water-related activities. They have also advised to consult the instructions provided by port captains.

According to the forecast, there are no active tropical storms in the Caribbean Sea. The weather forecast is expected to remain valid until 6:00 PM on Monday, October 26th, 2026.
