Best area to stay for a family with kids in Puerto Vallarta?

We are a family of four with kids aged 10 and 12, visiting Puerto Vallarta in February. We have 4 days in the Hotel Zone at Harbor 171 and 4 nights in a condo on Playa Esmeralda. We want to explore South Puerto Vallarta but realize there's nothing walkable from Playa Esmeralda. We're interested in street food, art, and culture in the Zona Romantica some days.

Consider spending the last four nights in a different location, such as San Pancho or Lo de Marcos, where you can enjoy a change of scenery.

For snorkeling, Los Arcos is the best spot, as other locations are weather dependent. Lo de Marcos is also a great place for kids to learn how to surf.

Catch the bus outside of Esmeralda and head to Mismaloya, where you can take a panga to explore various beaches. Alternatively, consider visiting Bucerias or Sayulita by car, where you can spend the day shopping, eating, swimming, and exploring the local markets.
