Puerto Vallarta Prepares for National Safety Drill
Puerto Vallarta will participate in Mexico's nationwide safety drill on September 19, 2026, at noon. The drill simulates a scenario with two hypothetical earthquakes and a potential tsunami affecting the Jalisco coast. Residents are advised to follow instructions and treat the exercise as a rehearsal. The drill's organizers recommend families, schools, and workplaces to practice their emergency response plans.

- What to do: Beaches and hotels may sound alarms, pause service, and request residents to walk to assembly points. If you are on a beach or in Marina Vallarta, follow staff instructions unless officials give a different instruction.
- What to register: Buildings that want a participation certificate should register by September 18, 2026, on the Jalisco platform or the national 2nd Simulacro Nacional 2026 site. Inform your hotel desk about the drill so they do not call 911.
