Puerto Vallarta Half Marathon and 5K: What You Need to Know for an Authentic Experience
The Puerto Vallarta Half Marathon and 5K are back for the 2026 season, set for Sunday, November 15. Held at the Unidad Deportiva Municipal Agustín Flores Contreras, the city sports complex across from the Sheraton, both races start at 6:30 AM and 6:40 AM respectively, with the half marathon heading north along Avenida Francisco Medina Ascencio. The official race website (maratonvallarta.com/registro/) and Visit Puerto Vallarta (visitpuertovallarta.com/events/xxii-medio-maraton-puerto-vallarta-2026) provide registration and kit pickup details. Kit pickup is available on Friday, November 13, at Casino Life in Plaza Caracol, and on Saturday, November 14, at the sports complex. Don’t miss out by not registering or picking up your kit in time.

The event offers a range of categories for participants from 18 to 60 and over, with trophies for the top three in each category. Runners will receive a shirt, race number, timing chip, and commemorative medal, along with water and sports drink along the route. At the finish, participants can enjoy donuts, fruit, and paletas (ice pops) as a sweet finish.
For the safety and comfort of runners, the organizers note that the route can change without notice, and it’s advised to keep an eye on the central lanes near the hotel zone early that Sunday. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, this event is a must-attend for anyone looking to experience Puerto Vallarta’s sports scene.
