Puerto Morelos Trains Police for Better Tourist Service
Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz, the president of Puerto Morelos, announced that four members of the municipal police have completed the Diploma in Security and Tourist Service, along with 48 participants from Quintana Roo.

She emphasized that constant police training is crucial for providing a more professional, approachable, and humane service. This initiative is particularly important for a tourist destination, where the industry is a significant source of economic development.
Merari highlighted that this training represents a step forward for the police force, and it will be extended gradually to more members of the force. The goal is to strengthen their training in various areas of public security.
The ceremony also welcomed the 52 graduates, including 19 women and 33 men, who completed 240 hours of specialized training to improve prevention, service, and response to risks for visitors and residents.
Julio César Gómez Torres, the Secretary of Public Security, described the 10 specialized modules covered in the program, which included cultural tourism, legal framework, visitor service, human rights, intercultural perspective, and prevention of human trafficking. Other topics included first aid, civil protection, legitimate use of force, basic English, ethics, and protection of children, adolescents, and women.
