Puerto Morelos Sees Growing Commitment to Recycling with Reciclatón Event
Puerto Morelos, a city in Quintana Roo, Mexico, recently saw an increase in recycling efforts through a Reciclatón event. The event, held in both the municipality's main area and the Leona Vicario district, collected over 3,700 kilograms of recyclable materials, despite some rain. This demonstrates a growing community commitment to environmental conservation.

The event highlights the municipality's efforts to promote a culture of waste separation and to reduce the impact of waste on the environment. It also shows the effectiveness of local government initiatives in fostering sustainable practices among residents.
Residents' active participation in separating waste at home was evident in the significant amount of glass collected during the event, emphasizing the importance of this habit in the recycling process.
Director Sergio Chalé Gómez, of the Protection and Environmental Management and Natural Resources Department, emphasized that the population's response reflects a progress in the culture of waste separation and a greater awareness of the environmental impact of waste disposal.
Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz, the president of the municipality, reiterated that environmental protection is a priority, and that such events will continue to be held in different communities within the municipality.
Arrived in Puerto Morelos in 2020 from United Kingdom. Still figuring things out, writing it down as it happens.
