Puerto Morelos Hosts Carrera Rosa to Combat Breast Cancer
Puerto Morelos, Mexico Nearly 100 residents participated in the Carrera Rosa event, a 3.5-kilometer run organized by the Municipal Institute for Women in collaboration with five local hotels. The race was part of Puerto Morelos' efforts to promote physical activity, early detection, and prevention of breast cancer during the month of October.

Event highlights included a prize ceremony, a raffle, and a salsa dance session to reinforce early detection and community engagement. Participants in both the male and female categories received prizes for first, second, and third place. The event also included a costume contest and a raffle for additional prizes. At the conclusion of the race, attendees enjoyed a salsa dance party that emphasized the importance of early detection and community involvement.
The municipal authorities emphasized that awareness efforts should continue throughout the year, not just during October. By working with the private sector, the government aims to promote a culture of self-care and solidarity, encouraging more women to know the necessary detection measures for breast cancer.
