Blanca Merari Boosts 24/7 Emergency Response in Puerto Morelos
Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz, the mayor of Puerto Morelos, has stepped up the city's 24/7 emergency response strategy with over 5,000 preventive, supervisory, and response actions. This proactive approach aims to keep residents and visitors safe year-round, especially during peak seasons.

Here’s a breakdown of the key initiatives:
- 2,411 interventions in commercial establishments to ensure safety and compliance.
- 1,727 anuencias issued for various permits and authorizations.
- 684 inspections and verifications conducted to maintain regulatory standards.
- 253 immediate response interventions by operational personnel and lifeguards.
- Five prevention campaigns rolled out to raise awareness and prepare the community.
- Five Special Programs for Civil Protection covering various scenarios from forest fires to holiday events.
Notably, on March 11, 2026, the Operational Specialized Committee for Forest Fires was established. During the season, a forest fire in San Lorenzo was quickly contained, affecting 4.7 hectares and highlighting the effectiveness of the new measures.
With these efforts, the city is better prepared for emergencies, ensuring a safer environment for everyone. If you're planning a visit or already living in Puerto Morelos, be sure to stay informed about any ongoing initiatives and updates from local authorities.
