Blanca Merari Leads Grito de Independencia in Puerto Morelos
As the autumn equinox approached, the skies above Puerto Morelos, Mexico, filled with the patriotic spirit of Mexico's Independence Day celebrations. Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz, the mayor of Puerto Morelos, led the traditional Grito de Independencia, a historic call that echoed through the town square, marking 236 years since the start of Mexico's fight for freedom.

The evening saw a display of music, dance, and cultural pride, with activities for all ages. Mayor Merari, dressed in a festive patriotic outfit, presided over the ceremony from the municipal palace balcony, honoring national heroes and reminding the community of Mexico's rich history.
Residents and visitors alike gathered to celebrate, shouting '¡Viva México!,' '¡Viva la Independencia!,' and '¡Viva Puerto Morelos!' with enthusiasm, as the mayor sounded the traditional bell and unfurled the national flag, symbolizing the unity and pride of the community.
The event also extended to the Leona Vicario delegation, ensuring the festivities were accessible to all corners of the town. This annual celebration not only strengthens community bonds but also keeps the spirit of independence alive, reflecting the enduring legacy of Puerto Morelos and its residents.
