My original plan was to stay in Playa del Carmen, but I've been reading that the beaches there aren't that great, and that Cancun actually has much nicer beaches. So, what's the main reason people recommend staying in Playa del Carmen so much? Aside from its convenient location and easy access to other destinations, is it actually a good place to enjoy the beach? Since spending time at beautiful beaches is one of my main priorities, would you recommend staying somewhere else instead? And if so, where?
