Tulum’s Airlink Gets a Makeover: Aeromexico’s Exit and What It Means
It’s official: Aeromexico will be taking a break from Tulum, with their flights set to end on September 30, 2025. This marks a significant shift in the airlink that has served as a lifeline for both residents and visitors alike. What does this mean for those planning a trip or already living in Tulum?

With Aeromexico’s departure, the domestic board at Tulum’s airport will see a reduction in flights, dropping to just two to four daily departures. This spells a busy schedule for travelers booked after the end of September, as they will have to choose between refunds, rebooking, or vouchers. Residents relying on direct flights to Mexico City for medical appointments or onward connections will need to plan accordingly.
The airport has announced seasonal winter service from four foreign airlines, but it remains to be seen how this will impact the flow of tourists and connections. Volaris, Mexicana, and Viva Aerobus will continue to operate, though their schedules have already been cut back significantly. This change will affect the daily lives of expats and digital nomads in Tulum, who will have to adapt to a more limited air network.
Moved to Tulum from Argentina 4 years ago and stayed. Interested in how the town actually works.
