Letras Itinerantes Brings Reading Days and Books to Tulum Children
For the next several weeks, Letras Itinerantes is bringing reading days and 400 donated books to Tulum's children, starting with the 10 de Octubre neighborhood on August 10. The first session engaged 50 kids in reading groups and focused on books about emotional intelligence, self-esteem, and animal care. Each subsequent session will deliver 50 more books, aiming to build a continuous reading culture in underprivileged communities.

Organized by Alejandro Ulises, Letras Itinerantes volunteers share stories that spark curiosity, imagination, and conversation, serving as tools the children can keep. The sessions also include yoga, fostering a peaceful environment where the children can fully engage with the stories. The second session is set for September 3 in Sahcab Mucuy, a Maya community inland from the coast.
Residents can support the campaign by donating books, making monetary contributions, or volunteering. The books come from alliances with Mexican bookstore chains and publishers, ensuring a steady supply for the children. This initiative is more than just a one-time event; it's a long-term effort to enrich Tulum's young minds and foster a love for reading.
