Tulum Unido, a coalition of nearly 300 residents, business owners, and civil society representatives, has launched Ubica tu bache, an interactive Google Maps tool designed to collect reports of damaged streets. The initiative allows residents to place markers on pothole locations, type 'Bache' as the label, and save the location. This innovative approach complements the Municipal President Diego Castañón Trejo's announcement of an emergency patching campaign for streets damaged by recent rains.

Community-Driven Pothole Fixing in Tulum: A New Era of Citizen Engagement

The Ubica tu bache map will be presented to authorities responsible for street repairs, providing a comprehensive overview of damaged areas and enabling more effective allocation of resources. This new system not only empowers residents to report potholes but also allows the municipal administration to make informed decisions regarding street maintenance.

With just three taps on a phone, residents can help decide which pothole in Tulum gets fixed first. This citizen-led initiative marks a significant shift in how Tulum addresses its street infrastructure needs, fostering greater community involvement and efficiency in public works.
