Puerto Vallarta dog vet for screw worm

Puerto Vallarta dog vet for screw worm certificate?

Gezondheid & Welzijn 1w geleden 7 answers •

My fiancé and I are traveling with our pup from the U.S and we had to get a screw worm certificate to come into Mexico. From my understanding, we need to get her checked by a vet before flying back to the U.S. Has anyone done this recently?

We decided not to bring our dog to Mexico due to a worn screw on the harness. Getting into Mexico wasn't a problem, but returning might be more challenging. You'll need a certified veterinarian's certificate a few days before you return, which confirms your dog is free from screwworm.

When traveling with pets, it's essential to check the specific requirements with your airline. Each airline has its own set of paperwork, and US border patrol can be quite particular. I recall driving a few years ago when these regulations started, and I had to deal with a mountain of paperwork from a vet. In the end, I gave our pets to friends and sent us on our way.

It's always best to verify the requirements with your airline, as they'll be the ones making the final decision.

Driving is different from flying.

I've never had to get a screwworm test for Mexico, but I did need a rabies and health certificate. When returning, the only thing that mattered was the screwworm certificate. I also got a health certificate, just in case. Apparently, you'll need these documents if you're staying in Mexico for over 10 days. I found that airlines were more strict than US border patrol.

If you're near Puerto Vallarta, I recommend visiting the HVEV vet clinic, located in the Fluvial area, just a couple blocks from Costco. They have a phone number of +52 322 225 6940, and while the vet may speak limited English, the receptionist can assist with English. You can send them a message on Whatsapp to make arrangements.
