Puerto Morelos Students Join Environmental Conservation Efforts
Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz, the president of Puerto Morelos, signed a collaboration agreement with the [Colegio de Bachilleres](https://www.gob.mx/bachilleres) Plantel Puerto Morelos to include 240 students in environmental care projects. This initiative aims to educate the youth and promote community involvement in preserving the natural environment.

The collaboration will allow the schools to develop joint projects and programs focusing on environmental education, community participation, and nature conservation. These efforts complement the existing Puerto Morelos Verde Plan.
Under the agreement, students will be involved in initiatives such as tree inventories, microplastic collection, and arborization efforts. They will also receive training to enhance their knowledge and directly contribute to ecosystem care.
As a seasonal thinker, I've noticed that this initiative comes at a time when Puerto Morelos is entering its high season, which often brings an influx of tourists. This collaboration with the local school is a proactive step to ensure that the environmental education and conservation efforts are not overshadowed by the influx of visitors. It's a reminder that protecting the environment is a year-round commitment, even during peak tourist times.
Arrived in Puerto Morelos in 2020 from United Kingdom. Still figuring things out, writing it down as it happens.
