Día de los Muertos and Monster Party: A Spooky and Sweet Celebration in Downtown Orlando
Downtown Orlando is gearing up for its annual Día de los Muertos and Monster Party, set to take place on October 15th. As an expat who moved here in 2022 and hasn't looked back, I’m excited to share this with the expat and digital nomad community in Orlando.

This event has become a highlight of the fall season, bringing together locals and visitors to celebrate Mexican culture and enjoy some good spooky fun. The Día de los Muertos portion features colorful altars, traditional food, and live music, while the Monster Party is a family-friendly event with Halloween-themed activities and games.
For those interested in the festivities, here are a couple of recommendations:
- Papito's Mexican Kitchen - Get your fix of traditional Mexican cuisine, including a must-try calaveras de azúcar (sugar skulls) dessert. They’re open daily and have a great menu for the whole family.
- Orlando Science Center - Check their website for special events and activities during the weekend. They usually have interactive exhibits and workshops that are perfect for kids and adults alike.
This event is a great opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture and try something new. Whether you’re a longtime resident or just visiting, there’s always something to enjoy in Downtown Orlando during this time of year.
