Is it easier to have a social life in Montreal?
Anders 7 answers • Rafael
I'm 23, I've lived on the north shore of Montreal my whole life, but I'm starting to feel like I'm missing out on things. I've got some friends here, but they're all busy with their own lives and I feel like I'm really alone. I've been trying to make new friends, but it's hard when everyone is in their own little bubble. I've got some friends in my neighborhood, but they're all families with kids, and I'm not really interested in that scene. I'm thinking of moving to Montreal proper in a year or so when I finish my program, and I'm wondering if it's easier to have a social life there. I see all these cool clubs and groups on social media, but they're all in Montreal and it's hard to justify traveling out there just to meet new people. Has anyone else made a similar move and found it easier to meet new people in Montreal?

I think it's not just about having more opportunities to meet people, but also about being open to new experiences and being willing to put in the time and effort to build relationships. I think people underestimate how difficult it is to make friends as an adult.

I'm actually pretty outgoing and I've never had a problem making friends, but I think it's harder to make friends as an adult. I'm thinking of moving to Montreal in a year or so and I'm hoping that will give me more opportunities to meet new people.

I think it's harder to meet people outside of Montreal, but that's just my impression. Continuing your education is a great way to meet new people, but it sounds like you're not in a situation where that's an option for you. Have you thought about taking a language course or joining a sports club?

I'm not in a situation where I can continue my education, so I'm looking for other ways to meet new people. It's hard when you're in a neighborhood that's mostly families with kids, there just aren't many opportunities to meet people my age.

Have you thought about taking a language course or joining a sports club? There are always opportunities to learn something new and meet people.

I'm from the south shore and I had a similar feeling. Montreal is a great place to meet people, but it does take some effort. You have to put yourself out there and attend events and join groups that align with your interests. It's not something that happens overnight, but it's definitely possible.

I'm with you, it's hard to make friends when you're not in a situation where you're constantly surrounded by new people. I'm hoping that moving to Montreal will give me more opportunities to meet new people and make friends.
