I'm planning a long stay in Luang Prabang starting November 1, and I'm thinking about not bringing any rain gear. I'm considering just getting wet or finding shelter if it rains. Is this a bad idea?

Luang Prabang's high humidity makes air drying a slow process when it's raining. Fortunately, rain showers are relatively short-lived, lasting only 2-3 hours on rainy days. To stay safe, consider investing in shoes with good grip, as the streets can become extremely slippery.

Although the rainy season has ended, affordable rain ponchos can be easily found in various markets across Asia.

You can purchase compact, foldable polythene ponchos that are roughly the size of a toilet soap bar.

By the time you visit Luang Prabang, the rainy season is usually over. However, if you're planning to ride a motorbike, it's still a good idea to have a poncho handy. You can find them for a low price at roadside stalls.

In my experience, visiting Laos in October or November, I've brought a lightweight rain jacket for the past five years. Unfortunately, I've never needed it, and I'm not planning to bring one this time either.
