Luang Prabang is now on ExpatsList
Luang Prabang now has its own page on ExpatsList, and Laos has a country hub to go with it. The town sits where the Nam Khan meets the Mekong, a UNESCO-listed centre of monasteries and colonial shophouses that heritage rules have kept low-rise and walkable.
The starter-pack guide is honest about the trade-offs. There is no digital nomad visa, long stays run through a sponsor, specialist healthcare means Vientiane or a trip across the Mekong into Thailand, and the internet is adequate rather than reliable. What you get in return is the quietest town in mainland Southeast Asia, now a few hours from Vientiane by rail rather than a long day on the road.
Recommendations, questions and classifieds for the city open from today. This first post is a placeholder while the city fills up.
