Is La Libertad safe for tattoos?

My wife and I are Salvadoran American, moving to La Libertad at the end of the month. I have demonic/satanic style tattoos on my chest and horror themed styles on my arms. How worried should I be about being stopped by the police?

I'm not sure, but I've heard that random checks are being done at certain locations, like the karaoke bar on Avenida La Libertad. My boyfriend was there a month ago and they checked every man in the place.

It's a bit of a gamble, as some police officers might not care, but others might try to claim that visible tattoos are gang-related. Even with clothes on, some tattoos might be visible. To be safe, it's a good idea to cover them as much as possible, especially in a conservative country where people might have strong opinions about tattoos.

It's probably a good idea to keep a safe distance from the police. While they might not lock you up instantly, they could still ask you questions about your tattoos and press you for more information.

I haven't gone to La Libertad in 10 years, and it's not because I'm afraid of the police, but rather because I don't want to deal with the hassle of random checks and potential questions about my tattoos.
