Isla Mujeres Receives New Equipment to Strengthen Its Emergency Preparedness
Isla Mujeres, Mexico Just in time for the busy hurricane season, the municipal government of Isla Mujeres has bolstered its emergency response capabilities with a new batch of specialized equipment. This update comes as a part of a broader commitment to ensure the safety and well-being of both residents and visitors.

During a ceremony held at the Base of Protection Civil and Firefighters in Costa Mujeres, the president of the municipality, Atenea Gómez Ricalde, presented 14 pairs of fire-resistant boots to 13 members of the Protection Civil team. These boots are specifically designed to handle structural and forest fires, providing enhanced protection during critical moments. Additionally, 35 pairs of electrically insulated boots were distributed for everyday use, ensuring that the team is equipped with the latest technology and safety gear.
“Caring for those who care for us is a priority for our community,” said Atenea Gómez, highlighting the ongoing investment in training, infrastructure, and overall working conditions. This not only strengthens the emergency response team’s capacity but also boosts the morale of the dedicated personnel who keep our island safe.”
With these new additions, the protection civil force of Isla Mujeres is better prepared to face any emergency, ensuring that both islanders and tourists can enjoy a safer environment.
