I'm planning to upgrade my home lab setup and I want to know if it's possible to use my own router with Claro's fiber internet in Santurce. I've heard that some people have successfully done it, but I'm not sure what the rules are.

I've had experience with Liberty and Neptuno, and I've never had any issues changing the router. You should call Claro's technical support and they'll help you set it up. They'll probably need the username and password for the connection method, and maybe a few other parameters.

If you have fiber optic and want to use your own router, you should put the Claro router in bridge mode. However, I'm not sure if this option is available, so you might need to call them to see if they can enable it.

Claro doesn't allow you to use your own modem, but you can use your own router after the modem. I've set it up this way and I've had to call Claro to open the NAT, but now I can control my entire network from my router.

To use a router, you need to have your modem's settings changed. This involves calling the provider to remove you from the CCGNAT and activate bridge mode on the modem's port 1. The newer modem model, which is white, is less prone to needing this adjustment after software updates, whereas the older black modem requires this change every time the software is updated.
